OUR STORY

Welcome to TrueGlutenFree! We’re excited for you to to part of our community and to help us spread the word on the truth about gluten. Most people never completely heal when going on a gluten free diet - but it’s not their fault! We are taught to trust our doctors and the FDA, however they have it all wrong. Gluten Free is not defined properly in the U.S. today which is preventing most Americans the ability to heal. True gluten free means you need to avoid all grains- wheat, rye, barley, corn, rice etc. We hope you can learn from us and share our knowledge.

A year ago I was diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity. At the time I had no idea what it really meant and or understood my everyday life was about to change. My doctor told me that with my leaky gut, parasites, candidiasis, and severe malnourishment that I’d need to be making some drastic food changes and give up my alcohol for a while. I told my doctor he was crazy- I said “ I live in Boston CITY, I go out for thirsty Thursdays, fancy dinners, and cocktails hours with my friends and that would be impossible. He promised me that if I just gave it some time that I would start to feel better and that if I wanted to heal my body of my autoimmune diseases- hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes, IBS, and my neurological issues, then I really didn’t have much of a choice. I remember thinking- “Great at 27 years old, my life is over.”

Fast forward to a year later, I write this as I am sitting around a campfire after a 7 mile hike up Mt. Washington, NH and enjoying my dinner over the fire - grass-fed beef steak tips, organic onions, peppers, asparagus, and homemade sweet potato fries for dessert. The running joke between my boyfriend and I now is “you can’t keep up with my healthy gut.” Within 8 months I had cleared myself of all my autoimmune diseases and have never felt better.

If you want to ask me:
“Was your journey easy” ABSOLUTELY NOT!
"Will my friends change?” PROBABLY!
"Will my family understand and support me?” NOT ALWAYS!
“Will people think I’m crazy?” YES!

But this is all OK because I am here to support you. TrueGlutenFree.com was born to provide personal support to YOU and to make your life easier through your transition to health.

I’ll never forget my mom telling me the story:

The summer of 1993. My mom was brushing my hair and planning my 5th birthday celebration. After 5 minutes of me not responding, I turned around and said “Did you say something to me Mommy?” As you can image, my mom freaked. She thought her daughter was going deaf.

From 3 to 4 years old, I had frequent ear infections. The doctors would always clear me after prescribing a dose of the antibiotic Amoxicillin. Due to reoccurring ear infections, inability to hear, and delayed speech, my tonsils and adenoids were removed at age 7 and ear tubes were implanted.

A year later, I remember taking a bath and calling to my mom. When I tilted my head back, to rinse the last of the shampoo from my hair, a large swollen mass was protruding from my throat. My mom PANICKED. I was then taken to the hospital, diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and prescribed synthetic T4 medication - Synthroid.

Doctors always accused me of not taking my medication, as they could never regulate my thyroid. Now we know why. I did not have a thyroid disorder. I was intolerant to gluten. Instead of changing my diet at 8 years old, I continued to consume gluten and grains for the next 16 years of my life, which unfortunately has led me to this point in my life...
